On a trip to Italy, we collected seeds from a dozen varieties of heirloom tomatoes and other vegetables. Back home, we entrusted them to H.G. Haskell, owner of SIW Vegetables, who planted them on his 100% drip-irrigated farm. Four months later, H.G. gave us the young, thriving plants to grow in our garden. We used our bounty—four kinds of tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, arugula and zucca (Italian pumpkin, more like overgrown butternut squash)—in the restaurant all summer. From SIW Vegetables, we also bought corn, basil and other top-quality produce.
In 2001, H.G. started a cooperative: Community Supported Agriculture. We’re proud to be a member. For information, visit their site.

Proprietors Erin & Jobe Hoy sell seafood of impeccable quality to area restaurants and to the public. Twice a week, they receive seafood deliveries from the Mediterranean, which means that along with the freshest seafood from the United States, we are also able to buy some of the lesser-known fish and shellfish (including mussels) that we grew up eating in Italy.
Dawson’s is a fourth-generation, female-owned and operated business that we are delighted to support. Erin and Jobe are hardworking young people who are always available when we need them.
